The Carlisle Community Chorus is an organization passionate about building community and bringing people of all ages and abilities together through music. Under the musical direction of Amanda Kern with pianist Margie Sidari, the CCC brings a wide variety of choral music including classical, folk and popular repertoire to their audiences focusing on joyful, healthy and beautiful singing for all.
Who can sing?: We are an intergenerational choir. Anyone ages 11 to 111 is welcome to sing with us. Come as a family or bring a friend or neighbor. There are NO AUDITIONS, EVER. No experience necessary, just a simple desire to sing with a wonderful community of people.
When and where do you rehearse?: We rehearse on Mondays from 7:00-8:30 pm in the Robbins Community Room at the Carlisle Public School (see map under “Rehearsal Info“). The year is divided in to 2 seasons: September to January and late January to mid-May (see schedule under “Calendar and Important Information“).
Is there a fee to sing?: We ask singers pay a small fee to help cover the choir’s expenses each term. Currently this fee is set at $65.00 per season. Middle and High School students are exempt from this fee. Seniors 55 and older who live in Carlisle are entitled to at $25 reduction to the total fee thanks the Friends of The Carlisle Council on Aging. The Carlisle Community Chorus is a non-profit organization with 501-3c status so relies on grants, membership dues and generous donations to continue to bring music to our members and community.
When are your concerts?: There is a minimum of two concerts per year, one per season. Additional community outreach concerts/performance opportunities do present themselves throughout the year. In past years these have included performances at Sunny Meadow Farm and the Senior’s Center in Chelmsford, the Bedford VA, holiday caroling at senior living facilities, Carlisle Council on Aging lunches and Carlisle community events including Race Amity Day & Old Home Day. Our public concerts are supported in part by grants from the Carlisle Cultural Council and the Chelmsford Cultural Council – both local agencies supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and from the Friends of the Carlisle Council on Aging.
Music: We will have scores available at rehearsal although there is always a dropbox link if you loose or would like to print out your own score or download them for use on a tablet/ipad. Please mark original scores in pencil. For performance we ask that members put their music in a black folder or binder.
Attendance: To build strong relationships and make beautiful music coming to rehearsal regularly is strongly encouraged. We acknowledge that life happens – please let the director or a board member know if at all possible ahead of time in the case of extended absences.
Concert Attire: More formal – White on top, black on bottom; Less formal – CCC t-shirts.
Community Outreach: The CCC believes in reaching out to the greater community through music, artistic collaborations and contributions. Each concert is free and open to the public. Goodwill donations of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items are collected for the Merrimack Valley Food Bank.
